SHINNEN ("the App") respects user privacy and handles only the minimum information necessary. This policy describes — plainly and openly — what information we collect, how we use it, and how it is stored.

1. Information We Collect

• Anonymous user identifier (UID issued by Firebase Authentication) — used to link measurement history to THE PILGRIMAGE
• Optional nickname (up to 20 characters; no real name required)
• Optional country/region code (used only for flag display and country ranking)
• Measurement results (score, timestamp, mode)
• SHINNEN INDEX (cumulative count of measurements) and per-mode counts
• Language preference (Japanese / English)
• Device identifier (Android: ANDROID_ID / iOS: identifierForVendor) — an anonymous ID for fraud detection only. Not an advertising ID; used solely to distinguish devices.
• Advertising ID (Android Advertising ID / iOS IDFA, if the user has not opted out) — collected by Google AdMob in the free Quick / Normal modes for ad delivery and frequency capping. See Section 4a for details. Users who purchase Hard mode do not have ads displayed and this ID is not used by the App for ad purposes for them.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

• Name, phone number, or email address (not collected in the current version)
• Precise location or GPS data
• Contacts, photos, camera, or microphone
• Accelerometer and gyroscope readings are used solely on-device as a source of randomness in "Hard mode" — never transmitted or stored on any server
• Browsing history outside the App or behavioral profiling beyond ad personalization performed by Google AdMob (see Section 4a)
• Biometric or health-related information

3. Purpose of Use

• Displaying THE PILGRIMAGE (personal-best world rankings)
• Displaying THE DEVOTED (SHINNEN INDEX rankings)
• Storing and displaying PRACTICE CHRONICLE (personal measurement history)
• NFT card issuance and ownership verification (planned future feature)
• Debugging and quality improvement of the App

4. Data Storage and Third-Party Sharing

Measurement data and user information are stored on Firebase (Firestore and Authentication), a service provided by Google. Firebase is widely used worldwide and is protected by encrypted communication (HTTPS) and security rules. See Firebase Privacy Policy.

We do NOT sell or share user measurement results, nicknames, or device identifiers with third-party advertisers, analytics providers, or data brokers.

4a. Advertising (Google AdMob)

The App displays banner advertisements in the free Quick and Normal modes via Google AdMob. Ads are delivered by Google, and your Advertising ID (Android Advertising ID / iOS IDFA) may be used by Google for ad personalization and frequency capping. See Google Ads Privacy Policy for details on how Google handles this data.

Where ads are NOT shown — the "intention sanctuary":

• During intention phases (the moments when you direct your thought toward the randomness): waitShinen, shinen, switching, and shinenDown
• Across the entire App, for users who have purchased Hard mode (one-time purchase)

Ads may appear on: mode selection screen, leaving / baseline phases of Normal and Hard modes, result screens, PRACTICE CHRONICLE, THE PILGRIMAGE, THE DEVOTED, GALLERY, the measurement guide, and the about page — in the free modes.

How to opt out of personalized ads:

• Android: Settings → Google → Ads → "Delete advertising ID" (you will still see ads, but they will not be personalized)
• iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → disable "Allow Apps to Request to Track"
• Purchasing Hard mode removes all ads across the entire App

Users in regions covered by GDPR / similar regulations will be shown a consent dialog managed by Google Funding Choices before personalized ads are delivered.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

• Locally stored data (measurement logs, NFT cards, etc.) is removed when the App is uninstalled
• Data on Firebase is retained until the user requests deletion
• To request deletion, contact us using the email below — provide your nickname or anonymous UID, and we will remove the associated data

6. About Sharing Features

Sharing a card to social media or other channels is initiated only by the user. The shared card image may include your nickname, country flag, and rank — but never email addresses or other personally identifying information.

7. Children

The App is not primarily directed at users under the age of 13. Children under 13 should use the App only with parental consent.

8. Your Rights

• Access your data (visible in PRACTICE CHRONICLE, THE PILGRIMAGE, and THE DEVOTED)
• Edit your nickname and country (via the profile-edit dialog)
• Request deletion of all your data (via the contact below)

9. Security

We protect data against unauthorized access through encrypted communication (HTTPS) and Firebase security rules. Please note, however, that no method of transmission or electronic storage can guarantee absolute security.

10. Changes to This Policy

This policy may be revised as needed. We will announce material changes within the App or on the app store listing. The effective date is shown at the top of this page.
